Introduction:

C language is a general-purpose, high-level language. It was developed in 1972 at BELL Labs of AT&T, US. The purpose for inverting this language, was to develop a powerful, secure and reliable operating system parallel to windows. That OS was named UNIX.

In 1972, Brian kernighan and Dennis M. Ritchie produced the first publicly available version of C. The UNIX operating system, the C compiler and essentially all UNIX application programs have been written in C. C has now become widely used professional language for various reasons as given below:

Easy to learn.
Structured language
It produces efficient programs
It can handle low level activities
It can be compiled on a variety of computer platforms

Some facts about C Language:

C was invented to write an operating system called UNIX.
C is a successor of B language which was introduced around the early 1970s.
The language was standardized in 1988 by the American National Standard Institute.
The UNIX OS was totally written in C.
Today C is the most widely used and popular programming language in System Software and Hardware Programming.
